Try This at Home: The “Evidence Detective” Game

Play this quick challenge to activate your child’s Critical Thinking skills:

Say a fun claim out loud, such as: “My dog can understand English.”, “This is the best snack ever.”, or “Bigger backpacks cause more homework.”
Ask your child to respond with the 3 Detective Questions: What makes you think that? What evidence would prove it? What evidence would disprove it?
Level up: Ask them to rate the claim from 1 to 5 for “how sure” they are, and explain why.

Now flip it. Let your child give you a claim and challenge you.

Their brain is practicing reasoning, bias-spotting, and decision-making. These are the same skills used in reading comprehension, science labs, debate, coding, and even navigating online content.
